LMTW. Let’s Meet This Week
Sydney · over 50s

Making friends in Sydney over 50 — the harbour’s still there, and so is the company

Sydney after 50 has a quiet magic the young ones rush past: midweek lunches with nowhere to be, harbour walks at talking pace, matinees with wine after. If the week’s gone quieter than you’d like — retirement, a move, a changed household — LMTW runs friendly, hosted get-togethers for the over-50s, every group checked by a human. Free for founding members.

Daytime Sydney, at your pace

Our Sydney over-50s crews book the daylight formats — every one hosted by a trained Captain, in a public venue, your name on a seat. From-prices are what you pay the venue:

  • Long lunches from $45 — Balmain and Paddington tables that run long on purpose
  • Breakfast club from $18 — early tables before a gentle coastal walk
  • Harbour walks from $20 — headlands and lookouts at talking pace, bakery finish
  • Lawn bowls & social sport from $18 — barefoot bowls, then a cuppa; beginners warmly welcome
  • Mah-jong, cards & trivia from $20 — friendly competition, serious laughter
  • Matinees & arts outings from $30 — theatre and galleries in the afternoon, wine and a debrief after

Checked by a human, hosted by a Captain

Trying something new takes a little courage, so we’ve made the practical side careful: a person — not just software — reviews every group before any invitation goes out. Get-togethers are hosted by trained Captains in public venues, and the table runs on first names only.

We match by age range within the over-50s, too — a table at 55 is a different room to a table at 72, and we treat them accordingly. Your crew, your pace.

The week got quiet. Sydney hasn’t.

Retirement, an empty nest, a household that changed — the scaffolding of company steps back, and nobody warns you. What we see every week in Sydney: put the same friendly faces around a good table a few times running, and friendship does what it always did.

Romance occasionally blooms at our tables, but friendship is the point — you set your intent when you join, and it’s quietly shown on the night so there’s no guesswork. City-wide picture: make friends in Sydney. Nationwide: over 50s.

No technology to master

Joining takes about four minutes in your ordinary web browser — no app, nothing to install. If you can read this page, you have everything you need. Members vote on venues from a directory of thousands of Sydney spots, so tables land near where you live.

After each get-together you privately note who you’d enjoy seeing again — it stays secret unless it’s mutual. That’s how one pleasant Balmain lunch becomes a standing arrangement. More at how it works.

Common questions

I’m on my own now — is this for me?

Very often, yes. Many Sydney members over 50 arrived after loss, separation or a move, and they’ll understand without explanation. Friendship first, always, and at your pace — when you’re ready, we’d be glad to have you.

How do I know it’s safe in Sydney?

A human reviews every group before invitations go out, every get-together is hosted by a trained Captain in a public venue, and the table runs on first names only. We never ask for payment details to join as a founding member.

Are there daytime get-togethers in Sydney?

They’re the staples of our Sydney over-50s calendar — breakfast club, long lunches, harbour walks, matinees and bowls. Evenings exist too if you prefer them; you book only what suits you.

Where in Sydney do get-togethers happen?

Balmain, Paddington, the inner west, the north shore and the eastern suburbs — plus harbour walks. Members vote from a directory of thousands of venues, so tables land near where members live.
